Command Sergeant Major Gary Graham was appointed Post Command Sergeant Major of the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center on October 1, 2017. He began his military career in December 1978 when he enlisted into the Mississippi Army National Guard as a Wheel Vehicle and Generator Mechanic. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including Squad Leader, Platoon Leader, Battalion Motor Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Sergeant Major.
CSM Graham completed two rotations at Fort Irwin’s National Training Center in CA, in 1999 with the MSARNG, and again in 2001 with Louisiana’s 256th Combat Brigade. He deployed to Al Taqaddum, Iraq from 2003 to 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II, and mobilized later in 2005 as part of the large-scale response effort to provide support throughout Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. He has served in numerous staff positions during his 39 years of service. Among those are Command Sergeant Major of the 298th Corps Support Battalion, Commandant of the 154th Regional Training Institute, Command Senior Enlisted Leader of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, and his most recent assignment as the Mississippi National Guard’s first Land Component Forces Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Graham has completed all of his Non-commissioned officer education, including the U.S. Sergeant Majors Academy. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development, MS Noncommissioned Officers Association, Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the U.S., The U.S. Field Artillery Saint Barbara Association, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion, The U.S. Transportation Regimental Association, and the National Rifle Association.
