155th Armored Brigade Combat Team
Colonel Robert D. Ferguson is the Commander, 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT), Mississippi Army National Guard. He is responsible for providing a combat ready force capable of accomplishing state missions assigned by the Adjutant General or federal missions assigned by the Combatant Commander. The 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team’s wartime mission is to find, fix and destroy the enemy within an assigned area of operations, and is composed of approximately 3,500 Citizen-Soldiers serving in subordinate units stationed throughout Mississippi.
 
Colonel Ferguson is an armored cavalry officer.  Prior to serving as the brigade commander of the 155th ABCT, he served as the squadron commander of the 1st Regiment 98th Cavalry Squadron.  
 
Colonel Ferguson's combat experience consists of two deployments in support of the Global War on Terrorism.  During 2009-2010 he served as the operations officer for the 2nd of the 198th Combined Arms Battalion and deployed to Northern Iraq.  From 2005 to 2006 he served as the troop commander of Alpha 98th Cavalry Troop.  Other positions served include Officer Candidate School commander, operations officer of the 1st Regiment 98th Reconnaissance Squadron, and various other company-level commands.  

Colonel Ferguson’s awards consist of the Bronze Star Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), in addition to his service awards.  

In 2015 Colonel Ferguson graduated from the US Army War College, completing a National Security Fellowship at Harvard University.  He is a graduate of Command General Staff College.  He holds a bachelorette degree in English and a master’s degree in British Literature, both from The University of Memphis.  He also holds an education specialist's degree in Administration from Arkansas State University and is an educator with Desoto County Schools.
